ZACA
ZACA, Hull 20, 1967
Homeport: Newport, RI.
Named ZACA in 2017 hull 20 was originally known as PIKA. Her stewards for decades were Jean and Lou Wayne who purchased the boat in Connecticut and later brought her up to Lake Erie via the Hudson River and Erie Canal. They cruised the Lake Erie, and also took her to the Bahamas on a couple occasions.
Construction on ZACA started in 1967, when she was also documented, but she was not completed till 1968 and she was sold in 1969!
Michael bought ZACA in 2022 having previously owned an all wood gaff rigged cutter. “I loved my wood cutter, but the amount of work required to maintain a wood boat, coupled with the expense, made it a difficult relationship. I wanted a classic boat, that was financially manageable and the A37 fit the bill.”
